Once a division reaches its full capacity, children will be put on a waiting list. If space becomes available, they will be placed on teams in the order in which they appear on the list.

When registering your child, keep in mind that AYSO is an all-volunteer organization, and consider volunteering as a referee or coach for your child's team. With over 3000 players in our region, referees and coaches are always welcome! In order to boost the ranks of referees, we will assign one coach and one certified referee to every team. Once that has been accomplished, we can assign assistant or co-coaches. If you are thinking of being an assistant or co-coach, please consider becoming a referee. We will hold certification classes before the season begins.

Players are assigned to teams by the Division Coordinators prior to the start of the season. At that time, as much information as is available on player skills is used to provide evenly balanced teams for the season.

In the past, the pattern of being on the same team with the same coach season after season has inevitably lead to imbalance within the divisions, which makes the playing experience a negative one for all involved.

Players may not request to be placed on a particular team. Except for the following, AYSO Region 473 will not guarantee placement:

  1. Coaches will be placed on the same team as their children unless otherwise requested;
  2. Siblings within the same Division may be placed on the same team;
  3. Placement for good cause shown

In addition, please remember that:

- Children remain in the same age division for the entire "soccer year": fall/winter/spring

- New teams are formed each season

- If your child REALLY wants to play this spring, please do not put off registering. We've been filling up more and more quickly recently, and later registrants are likely to be wait-listed.

Parents will have access to their children's team rosters and the schedule of games shortly before the season begins.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND THEIR RESPONSES.

  • WHERE AND WHEN ARE GAMES PLAYED? Check the Schedules tab after March 17. Brooklyn AYSO games are played at the Parade Ground, Brooklyn Bridge Park and other venues. Schedules are not completed until permits are issued and are subject to change. Division Coordinators are mindful of potential sibling scheduling conflicts and make good faith efforts to minimize them. Exact locations will be determined by registration levels.

· Refund Policy Full Refund if player withdraws prior to any AYSO activity – no games, no practice for the registered season – and returns the uniform; Partial Refund of $65 if player withdraws after participating in any AYSO activity and returns the uniform; Partial Refund of $50 if player withdraws after participating in any AYSO activity and keeps the uniform or returns a damaged uniform.

· Player equipment Players may not wear anything that is dangerous to themselves or any other player. This includes, among other items, all items of jewelry and accessories including hair beads & hard barrettes, earrings, necklaces, wristbands and ankle bracelets, watches, casts and splints. With the exception of a “medical bracelet”, no item may be worn and taped or covered.

Age Verification Only children born between 1/1/98 and 12/31/12 are currently eligible to play in our program. Although you may register, new U5 and U6 players must present for verification (a) an original birth certificate, (b) copy of an insurance card in the player’s name with date-of-birth on the card, or (c) copy of passport prior to participating. Age falsification presents risks for the player, families, and the Region.
