10 THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND DURING THE SEASON

1) Each 8am game must have parents from both teams on the field no later than 7:30am to retrieve the goals (from the storage facility adjacent to the Parks Office/Police HQ at the south end of the field) and to set up the goals. If the first game of the day starts late, that first game must be cut short. When your game is over, please leave the field as quickly as possible, out of courtesy for the next team or group. Last AYSO game of the day on each field...Parents from each team must take down their goals and return them to the field house, unless instructed otherwise by an AYSO official. All games must end on time (we have more than 3000 kids on the field, which requires courtesy by all).

2) Coaches-Always bring a copy of the fall permits in case other organizations attempt to use our fields during the time periods permitted to AYSO (Coaches will be sent a copy of the permits by their division coordinators before the season begins). Call the parks police 718 437 1350 if the other other group fails to leave the field.

3) Coaches-keep a signed copy of each player's Medical Release and Liabililty Waiver Form in a ziploc bag during all practices and games.

4) Parents-print out and sign a copy of your child's Medical Release and Liabililty Waiver Form and keep a copy in your child's gear bag during all practices and games.

3) Rainout Policy: The region makes efforts to play games as scheduled even when it is raining. If games are canceled, this information will be posted at www.brooklynayso.org and also at the rainout hotline (718-233-3733) by 7am. Unless you hear otherwise from your child's coach or a team parent, or you find the rainout notice posted in this space or at the rainout hotline, you can assume games are on. And if the games are rained out during the day... parents please take down your goals!

4) Why Soccer Goals must be secured: Here's an important video from CBS News on the hazards of soccer goals.

5) Dogs, bikes and beach/lawn chairs with legs are not allowed on the artificial turf fields: Pls. be advised that owners may be fined by the Parks Enforcement Police!

6) All players must wear shin guards. These are MANDATORY! Sneakers are OK, but most players prefer to wear cleats. No jewelry of any kind, including any type of earrings, bracelets, necklaces, or watches, as well as hard hair ornaments (beads, clips, etc).

7) Thieves wander among us on the field sidelines: Keep your bags, jackets, backpacks etc in your sight at all times. Call 911 immediately if you see something, or you have a problem. There is no lost and found.

8) Always bring water for your child.

9) If you have questions that your coach cannot answer, ask your division coordinator (Contact info under contacts tab on BrooklynAYSO.org.)

10) Parents and coaches, please remember that soccer games are to be fun for your kids, and we hope that you enjoy these as well. Set the example. Demonstrate good sportsmanship and always respect the call of the ref.
