AYSO has teamed up with the American Cancer Society (ACS) nationwide
Hi Everybody,
With about 30 days left before our Relay we have less than 1/2 of the teams registered and less than $2,000 raised. The Relay for Life is one of the ways that the cancer society earns money to fund its work. Volunteers from each team walk laps around a track in the park next to the Library, and collect money from sponsors that they chose from friends and neighbors, or they think of other ways to raise money, such as selling wrist bands, and they register these donations on the website for their team. Anyone can register their team on the ACS site below. It doesn't have to be the coach.

Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back! All Brooklyn AYSO players will want be part of this year's Relay for Life on June 7, 2008. And it is so easy to start a new team or join an existing one. AYSO teams or players can sign-up on-line by going to: Easy Signup. Our goal is for all players to register under their team to help raise $100 each. Once on the site, you may "form a team" or "join a team", and proceed. Our company name is AYSO (scroll down). Coaches and players may call Karin Rockwin, at the ACS at 718-237-7851 x9135 or fax 718-852-9422 for any help needed when registering.
ACS provides some fund raising ideas (see links below). I'm having a stoop sale (my first choice)and selling lemonade with the first $100 going to ACS. I am also asking stores to donate items for an on-line auction, or to purchase a banner (see link below), and will be selling luminaria (link below).
We want all 2,000 players to have fun, to learn to play soccer, to learn good sportsmanship. And now they can participate in "giving back" to their community. Your team's involvement will help the American Cancer Society work toward a mission of eliminating cancer as major health issue and will support much-needed services in Brooklyn.

Instructions to start a team under AYSO
Fall registration opened May 1 and closes July 1

Once all players are registered, teams are formed by the division coordinator. The priority is creating evenly balanced teams.
The only guaranteed "teammate" placements are for siblings, though we do attempt to accommodate reasonable requests (ie, asking for no more than two children to play together).

Red Bulls vs. Kansas City Wizards 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17 free for Brooklyn AYSO Region 473
FREE! Brooklyn AYSO Region 473 Spring players and their families are invited to this Red Bulls match at Giant Stadium.
Pls. order through your coach or a team parent volunteer. There is a minimum order of 15 tickets per order required by the Red Bulls.
If your team participants total less than 15, please email or call Stanley Bryan, an AYSO volunteer at Sbryan27@hotmail.com or (347) 351-5916, and he will put teams in touch with each other.
A coach or "team volunteer" will then place the order and the teams make their own arrangements for ticket distribution amongst themselves (Pls. place orders only for the number of tickets you will need, as AYSO will have to pay the Red Bulls for all tickets, whether they are used or not).

and clicking on 'family profile' and then 'edit' next to their child's name (which appears if they're registered).
